Last Wednesday, Bernie Sanders traveled to Walmart’s annual shareholders meeting to demand that Walmart increase wages to $15/hr. In episode 42, John and Sam talk about the effect that would have on employers in areas that are not as wealthy as San Francisco and New York. If employee related costs went up, would employers hire less people? Would they be forced to raise prices on consumers? Although the idea of increasing wages for everyone sounds great, the overall economic impact could be devastating.
